He wasn’t happy. Apparently he doesn’t like the feeling of frosting on his fingertips. But the picture absolutely cracks me up every time I look at it. Don’t we all feel like this sometimes?

Yes, Gavin has turned one. So has Clara, who you’ll get to officially meet in the next few weeks, because I get to see her this weekend! You’d better believe that you’re about to see a lot of pictures of Jensen babies. Okaaaayy… one year olds.

And I’m not even sorry about it.

You know why?

Because more often than not, we have days that we feel like Gavin up there. and sometimes it can cheer us up to look at pictures of cute babies. Cough. One year olds.

I had a birthday this week too, despite life trying to kill me off in the form of a grease fire and then the stomach flu the next day, AND starting college classes again. Yuck to it all. Not to mention that I’ve reached the age that you stop really counting years on birthdays. It left me… well.. just look at the picture. Hopefully it makes you smile too!

A teddy bear sits on her dresser, decked in Marine Corps dress blues. Daddy’s serving and wasn’t able to see his baby girl’s first Christmas. Mom called me to take some pictures for him and of course I immediately suggested a cake smash since her first birthday is fast approaching.  Come on, you guys know I’ve been dying to do one. From the second I walked in the door, little miss Tylie showed me her sweet inquisitive nature and didn’t disappoint me on getting a little messy with the cake. She is so friendly and precious that I didn’t even mind her tiny cake handprints on my jeans. Between the frosting and this adorable little girl, I found that 2011 had a very sweet ending indeed.

  • Jordin - OMG Sage wow these are soooo amazing!!! I absolutely LOVE them! You did such an amazing job I am so glad I found out that you do pictures! I couldn’t be happier!!! I can not wait to see the rest! Thank you so much! And I love what you wrote under the pictures 🙂ReplyCancel

Hi there!

I promise I haven’t abandoned you, my LOVElies! With a new job and a break for the holidays currently underway, I will be back in the new year… New Year’s Day to be exact, with wonderful new photos! We’ll be doing a belated Christmas set soon with an almost-one-year-old AND her cake smash for her upcoming birthday! I’m so excited to show these to you all! (Can you tell? Sooooo many exclamation points!!)

I hope your holidays were absolutely fantastic and I wish you ALL soooo many blessings in the new year. You don’t realize how much you have all touched my life with your love, support, and warm wishes that you’ve sent my way as I’m starting all of these new chapters in my life. (Sweet Baby Jesus, don’t let me start crying over my MacBook in Starbucks.) I’m truly and deeply honored to be able to share these special moments with you and your families, so thank you. From the bottom of my heart.

Honestly, I didn’t mean to get so sappy. But we’ll go with it.

To each and every one of you, I do this because I love it, but I love it so much because I get to show YOUR love. Thanks for letting me into your worlds.

You can find more pictures from this morning here!

Let me throw you a little backstory. For the past two months, I’ve been commuting to Lincoln from previously mentioned small town. It’s about an hour long drive that I’m not a real big fan of.  I’ve listened to KFRX but was never a big fan of morning shows, didn’t have a reason to listen to them. Until I started that commute. I started to listening to Matt and Lindsey on Matt McKay Mornings for the music, but now I listen to them because THEY MAKE ME LAUGH. Not just haha, that’s kinda funny. No. It’s the my-fellow-interstate-drivers-probably-think-I’m-crazy  kind of way. Matt and Lindsey remind me of sitting around with my friends and listening to their ridiculousness.

Because they are just genuinely awesome people, they’re celebrating Matt’s birthday today in an unusual way: They’re raising money for Make A Wish of Nebraska so that they can help grant the wish of a child with a life-threatening illness. I wanted to take part in some little way (besides donating, I did give $20, but hey, I’m a poor college student) so I headed over to take some pictures. Oh, and did I mention Matt’s riding the carousel at Gateway for 12 hours? Think about that for a second.

Not only is the KFRX team great on air, they’re pretty amazing to hang out with in person. For a girl who was showing up unannounced to take pictures, you tend to be a little nervous that you’ll get shot down right away. But I was welcomed with open arms and I might go back later today. Word on the street is that there’s going to be a little surprise later on the birthday front. So if YOU want to know what it is or be a great person by donating OR hang out with these great people, get on down to Gateway today to see them. And hey, if you give a $25 donation, you can get a signed copy of the Matt McKay parody songs CD — INCLUDING SEXY REXY- and who doesn’t want that?!

  • Jennifer Schrodt - Thank you for taking our picture today, it’s looks great and was so much fun partaking in such a worthy event.

Again, Thank You and Merry Christmas!

Between the holidays and upcoming bowl games, it’s pretty hard to eat gluten-free, even when you know it might make you feel icky to have one of those cookies (or two or three). So for my fellow gluten-free compadres out there, here’s a recipe for a quick and easy sweet Chex Mix. Even if you’re a big fan of the wheat family, this is pretty darn tasty. We used to make it all of the time for our golf meets. I sometimes wonder if we were there to compete or to eat all of the snacks we got in our treat bags. 🙂  Let me know what you think! Happy eating!
